Environmental Thing-ies.

Just some environmental sketches from the other day.

Had fun with 'em.

Went to Reed-Custer High School earlier to go give a quick gesture demo.  Kids were very well behaved.  And, not sure who she was, but there was a girl holding a DAMN good black/white drawing on what looked like plexiglass or something.  Very eerie and beautiful drawing.

Hope the kids could glean something from such a short demo, haha.  Feel like I cheated 'em a bit.  Stage fright.  Oh, well.  C'est la vie.

Thanks for putting up with the terrible warm-up, kids!  And thanks for the invitation!

On a side note, haha, heard an interesting exchange between a former instructor explaining population and educational differences between the USA and China and a student outside the classroom while waiting for the art kids.  Clearly the student was your average Braidwood, soon-to-knock-up-high-school-fling, football/track star xenophobe.

Instructor:  "You're all aware that China has a little over THREE times our population, right?  You know what that means, right?  For every smart person we have here, they have three more.  So, there are WAAAAAAY more smart people in China than there are the U.S."

Track Star AS IF TRYING to prove the instructor's point: "BuuuUUUUULLLSHiiiIIIT!"

Math must not be this kid's friend.

Ico - Heal

Beautiful.  I have NO words.

Managed to take one of the most calming, ethereal, zen-like songs I've ever heard and turned it into something his own.

Everyone, check this guy out immediately!

Shiatsu

A selection of sketches I did the other day whilst repairing my thrown-out back.

A few thumbnail concepts, some gestures, knife handles (hahaha), and a face.  Nothing special.

Everything but the...

...bathroom sink.

Got a little inspired last night after having played a little "Silent Hill: Homecoming".

It was that beautiful area near the beginning during Alex's dream.  The "Operation Theatre".  There was a small section with a sink that I thought would've made for a grotesquely beautiful shot in a movie.

It's a damn shame there have been no movies that can pull off such amazing shots that the games they're based on can do so flawlessly.

Many things get lost in translation during the game-to-movie transition, but my GLOB, that's a topic for another day.

"Atlas" Complete/Nearly Complete

Been sick for a little over a week.  Can finally breathe, smell, and move without getting tired.  Don't know what hit me.  I thought it was a flu/cold 1-2 punch.  Whatever it was fucking sucked.

Anyway, all better.

Finished baking this...might be undercooked.  But it's okay.

August 8th

Haven't uploaded anything in a week.  Ouch.  Gotta get back to it.

Still trying out Shinkawa's methods.  Really enjoying it.  Running out of ink, though.  Crap.  Wonder if Pentel does bulk orders of those Pocket Brush refills, haha.  Tried something new with these ones.  I noticed that sometimes Shinkawa will start with some sort of diluted ink wash on some of his pieces.  So, I diluted some ink and started sketching with that first and then went in with the darks and the highlights at the very end.

I kinda wanted to put these into Photoshop or Painter and tune 'em up a bit.  Might do that with the next ones.
